Aladdin: The digital healthcare ecosystem
With the Aladdin application the users can access their full health records, organise medical appointments and medication. They can also track and engage with their health and acquire health and lifestyle products.
overview
We first met with the founders when Aladdin was just an idea aimed at preventing diabetes. Through workshops and ongoing collaboration, we helped evolve this early concept into what it is today:
A digital healthcare ecosystem that transforms society's approach to healthcare by shifting focus toward preventative medicine, with trust and efficiency at its core.
I'm a part of the scrum team responsible for the strategy, design and delivery of the app for both Android and iOS. I lead the design process, producing all major deliverables and presenting them to the client. Working closely with our PO and developers during our sprint-cycles, I get instant feedback and support to deliver the design stories in time.
problem statement
A detailed market research highlighted significant usability issues in existing healthcare applications, particularly around navigation complexity and poor information architecture. The most compelling finding from our user surveys revealed that 78% of users struggled with managing their medical records across multiple platforms. This insight became a crucial driver in our team's decision to develop a centralised, user-friendly system.
discovery & research
Working collaboratively with our client, our team kicked off the project with intensive discovery workshops. These sessions helped us understand the core challenges in healthcare delivery and identify critical pain points around data accessibility and user experience.
During these workshops, we identified three key technical requirements as the foundation of our solution: a robust blockchain security system, seamless cross-platform functionality, and an AI-powered health dashboard.
target audience
Based on our research, we made the strategic decision to focus on users aged 12-25. This demographic proved particularly interesting as they are not only tech savvy but also prime candidates for developing lasting healthy habits through our AI-guided system. Their inherent understanding of digital privacy also aligned perfectly with our blockchain-based security approach.
Visuals
We are building a blockchain based healthcare ecosystem enabling patients, healthcare professionals and insurers to interact more effectively with each other. The blockchain technology stores the data and provides security to ensure its true independence, permanence, credibility, and ultimate safety.

results & next steps
The first version of Aladdin's application showed great promise in making healthcare data easier to manage. Its simple, centralised system solved the common problem of dealing with medical records spread across different platforms.
Using secure blockchain technology and targeting young, tech-savvy users aged 12–25, the platform built a strong base for preventative healthcare whilst protecting user data.
The system made it easier for patients, healthcare professionals and insurers to work together—an important step towards better preventative medicine.
where we are today
We are currently building the blockchain that will enable the Aladdin ecosystem. Meanwhile, we are also developing proof of concept prototypes for preventative care, including diabetes retina scanning.
AI & machine learning
The data coming in through the Aladdin ecosystem will enable the largest healthcare repository in the world. Deploying machine learning technology on this repository will facilitate advances in preventative care and medical research.
learnings
early user testing
While the team conducted user research, implementing more extensive user testing earlier in the process could have helped identify and address usability issues before reaching the development phase.
cross-platform integration
The project involved building for both Android and iOS, with complex features including blockchain security, AI dashboard, and cross-platform functionality. A more focused approach on one platform initially might have allowed for faster MVP development and validation before expanding.
target demographic validation
We made a strategic decision to focus on a specific audience, but earlier validation of this demographic's needs and behaviours could have helped refine the preventative healthcare features and AI-guided system more effectively before full development.
